FAQ - Pet Owners

  • At this time we offer care for dogs and cats, but check back at any time to see when we’ve expanded our services to other companion animals.

  • We offer direct services in various regions that permit the virtual establishment of a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR). If your primary veterinary clinic is a part of our Vetibility Clinic Network (VCN), then you are able to see a veterinarian from your clinic on our platform, regardless of where you live. Please check back at any time to see when we’ve expanded our direct services into your region!

  • Yes. You can sign up and access the app with your Location Services turned off, but you will need them turned on in order to request an appointment. Regulations governing the practice of veterinary medicine may vary by region but generally require a veterinarian to be licensed in the region of a pet’s current location. In order to present your appointment request to a veterinarian licensed in your area, we require confirmation of your current location. This information is solely used to ensure you get an appointment with an appropriately licensed veterinarian and to provide you with the location of your nearest emergency veterinary hospital should your pet require in-person follow-up care. If you deny access to your current location you will need to go into the Privacy Settings of your mobile device, or web browser if using a computer, to allow access before you can request an appointment.

  • In order to legally practice veterinary medicine in North America, veterinarians must hold an active license with the applicable regulatory body in the jurisdiction in which they are practicing (including telemedicine services) and are typically required to practice under an accredited veterinary facility in that region. Accreditation requirements may vary between jurisdictions. Additionally, jurisdictions in which Vetibility operates/offers veterinary telemedicine services directly must permit the virtual establishment of a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship (VCPR).

  • Yes! Vetibility was designed to help modernize and facilitate access to veterinary care in an easy-to-use and efficient manner. As such, our application based services are accessible through Android and Apple mobile devices as well as laptop and desktop computers, allowing you to see a veterinarian at your convenience whether at home or on the go.

  • Wait times are dependent on the number of available veterinarians and appointment requests within your region. If you have an immediate concern regarding your pet or should their condition deteriorate after you have requested an appointment, please proceed to your nearest emergency clinic or open veterinary clinic or veterinary hospital. You can locate nearby clinics via “Find Nearby Veterinary Clinics” from within the settings page in the App. If possible, we ask that you kindly cancel your appointment request on Vetibility if you no longer need our services. Please note you will not be charged for any cancelled appointment requests.

  • You will have 10 minutes to confirm your appointment and enter the exam room once it has been accepted by the veterinarian. If you are unable to attend, you can decline the appointment and your appointment request will be returned to the Triage Queue for the next available veterinarian. Similarly, if you do not confirm your appointment within 10 minutes, the request will time out and be returned to the Triage Queue. Alternatively, if you no longer need our services, we ask that you kindly cancel your appointment request. Please note that you will not be charged for any cancelled appointment requests and will only be charged upon confirming your appointment with a veterinarian.

  • You should do your best to have your pet present for the appointment. Depending on their presenting complaint, your veterinarian may want you to show them specific things on your pet or demonstrate what your pet is doing. Performing a virtual examination will help your veterinarian better assess and diagnose your pet. Uploading photos or videos along with your appointment request that demonstrate your pet’s presenting complaint can also help the veterinarian better assess your pet, especially in case your pet will not do, or you cannot find, what you have been noticing at home.

  • Your consultation is not limited to a certain amount of time. The length may vary based on the veterinarian’s assessment, follow-up questions, and discussion, but generally lasts approximately 20 minutes.

  • All of the veterinarians on our platform have passed the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination as well as any/all additional examinations required by their regional licensing and regulatory body, and hold active general licenses within the jurisdictions in which they offer their services. Your appointment request will only ever be picked up by a veterinarian licensed in your region to ensure your attending veterinarian is familiar with any geographical variances in disease exposure or prevalence, as well as regional laws regarding the extent of services they are able to provide (including whether they can legally prescribe medications). All of our Vetibility veterinarians have also undergone an extensive screening/interview process before being accepted onto our platform.

  • The ability to legally prescribe medications via telemedicine can vary by jurisdiction. Your attending veterinarian may prescribe non-controlled substances in accordance with the standards of practice in your region. If appropriate, this could be picked up at your local pharmacy.

  • The fee structure of all consultations booked directly with a Vetibility veterinarian is based off of regional Suggested Fee Guides. There are no hidden charges or additional service fees. Our Vetibility veterinarians do not set their own pricing; the fees are standardized across the platform within geographical regions. Since all of our Vetibility veterinarians undergo the same stringent screening/interview process, you can rest assured you will always be seen by a high-quality veterinarian. Please note, veterinary clinics that are a part of our Vetibility Clinic Network (VCN) may set their own pricing in line with the fee structure of their clinic and as such, the pricing may vary if you elect to only be seen by a veterinarian from your primary clinic.

  • You will only be charged once you confirm your appointment with the veterinarian (after they have accepted your appointment request). If you no longer require your appointment, you can cancel before a veterinarian has accepted your request. If you still require your appointment but are unable to attend when the veterinarian accepts your request, you can decline the appointment which will move your request back to the Triage Queue to be picked up by the next available veterinarian.

  • All payments are made through our third party payment processor Stripe, which is integrated right into our platform, to securely process your payment without directly sharing your financial information. You can choose to pay with your credit card or use Apple Pay or Google Pay. The transaction will be authorized when booking your appointment but you will not be charged until you have confirmed the appointment, after it has been accepted by a veterinarian.

  • As insurance coverage can vary drastically by policy and provider, you will need to contact your insurance provider directly to see if they will cover your Vetibility appointment. You will always be provided with a complete medical record following your appointment, as well as an itemized receipt, which can be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement, if appropriate.

  • Vetibility always aims to provide high-quality, timely care to you and your pet. As such, consultations will be with the first available veterinarian licensed in your region. As all of Vetibility’s veterinarians undergo the same stringent screening/interview process, you can be sure you will always be seen by an excellent veterinarian.

If your primary veterinary clinic is a part of our Vetibility Clinic Network (VCN), however, you do have the option to request to only see a veterinarian from your primary clinic. Please note that selecting this option may impact your wait time as they will be the only veterinarians that see your appointment request.

  • If your primary veterinary clinic is a part of the Vetibility Clinic Network (VCN), you can select “See My Vet” when requesting an appointment to only see a veterinarian from your clinic. Please note, you will have had to input the name of your primary clinic when creating your pet’s profile in order for this option to show up. Also keep in mind that selecting this option may impact your wait time as they will be the only veterinarians that see your appointment request.

If your primary veterinary clinic is not a member of the VCN, you will not see an option to request them. One of our Vetibility veterinarians will accept your appointment request and will complete an in depth medical record following your appointment. They will email the record to you and your regular veterinarian (if you have provided their email address) to ensure they are still informed and up to date on any changes in your pet’s medical history.

  • Yes! Your primary veterinary clinic will receive a copy of the Vetibility veterinarian’s complete medical record after your consultation has ended to ensure continuity of care. You will also always receive the same in depth copy of your pet’s medical record.

If your primary veterinary clinic is a part of the Vetibility Clinic Network (VCN), and you have listed them on your pet’s profile, we will already have their preferred email address in our system and will automatically provide them with your pet’s medical record via email following the completion of your appointment. If your primary clinic is not a part of the VCN, you must include their email address when creating your pet’s profile to ensure they receive a copy of your pet’s medical record. If you do not know their email address, we suggest calling them when you register so you can add this to your pet’s profile. In the event that you have not included your primary clinic’s email address in your pet’s profile ahead of time, you will be able to forward the record to them yourself, as needed.

  • Providing your primary veterinary clinic’s email address allows us to directly send them your pet’s medical record as soon as it is complete. If your primary clinic is a part of the Vetibility Clinic Network (VCN), we will already have their preferred email address in our system. If your primary clinic is not a part of the VCN and you do not know their email address, we suggest calling them when you register so you can add this to your pet’s profile.

By linking your primary clinic’s email address to your pet’s profile when you first register, you can be sure your primary clinic will receive your pet’s medical record as soon as possible following their appointment to ensure continuity of care. We will always send you a copy of your pet’s medical record as well; in the event that you have not attached your primary clinic’s email address to your pet’s profile ahead of time, you will be able to forward the record to your veterinarian yourself, as needed.

  • We are a telemedicine only facility. As such, we cannot act as your sole veterinary care provider. While we will always be here to provide virtual care for your beloved pets when you are unable to get them into a physical clinic, have questions for a veterinarian, or need help better understanding a previously diagnosed condition, there are limitations to virtual examinations. As our animals cannot speak, the veterinarian’s physical exam is an integral part of their diagnosis.

Though a lot can be determined via an in-depth history and virtual examination, this cannot always act as a replacement for a primary care veterinarian. In some cases, an in person physical exam, diagnostic tests, veterinary-specific medication, or immediate treatment may be required, at which point our veterinarians will advise you to proceed to your primary veterinary clinic or nearest emergency clinic.

  • In order for our veterinarians to adequately assess your pet and provide the highest standard of virtual care expected on our platform, it is important for them to be able to see your pet and guide you on specific things to look for or demonstrate, so we exclusively offer video consultations.
